Tomáš is at a standstill. Unemployed and constantly fighting with his ex-wife, he also has to take care of his teenage son and help his aging parents. It seems the only way to escape this vicious circle is run away to England with a young Englishwoman. “Everything I Like may well be my most personal film. Ondrej Šulaj and I wanted to capture the atmosphere at the start of the 90s, a time when society was in flux. Every one of us suddenly had so many new things we could do with our lives. We could travel, start a business, get a job in advertising or simply head straight into politics. In Bratislava, lots of foreigners suddenly appeared. Every day brought interesting encounters, culture clashes, mutual insights. Everything was in motion, there was still hope and humour in our society. Ondrej and I wanted to take stock, if you will, of life,“ says Martin Šulík. The film won the 1992 Slovak Film Critics Award and grand prizes at Cottbus and Angers. Art Film Fest Košice will premiere a digitally restored version sponsored by the Slovak national project Digital Audiovision. (source: Art Film Fest 2016)
