Director: Björn Runge • Camera: Ulf Brantås • Scenario: Jane Anderson • Cast: Glenn Close, Christian Slater, Max Irons, Elizabeth McGovern

Joe Castleman has just learned that he is being awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature; his wife Joan couldn’t be happier. But from the moment the couple arrives in Stockholm for the award ceremony, tensions rise between them, with various underlying causes. These include the constant presence of an importunate biographer, chronicling the life and work of the award-winning writer, an attractive young photographer who reawakens all-but-forgotten indiscretions, and their son David, eternally chagrined at living in his father’s shadow. The situation culminates in timid Joan making a radical decision during the award ceremony. A penetrating study of celebrity, marriage and the creative process, cleverly toying with the well-known adage that behind every great man is a great woman.
