The story of Alexander McQueen is a modern, gothic-tinged fairytale about an ordinary working-class boy from East London who caged his demons and became an international star of fashion design. The film follows the extraordinary journey of one of the most distinctive artists of our millennium, who at the age of 27 took the helm of Givenchy and followed by founding his own successful fashion house. McQueen showcases the raw beauty and fearlessness of its subject’s original designs, which shocked the public and fascinated an endless list of celebrities, from Lady Gaga to Sarah Jessica Parker, while it also unveils the inner world of the inspiring yet tortured psyche of this radical genius. Through interviews with his closest colleagues, friends, family and the couturier himself, the film reveals his previously undisclosed personal traumas, which deeply influenced his work and mostly likely contributed to his life’s premature end.
