Archive Cinema

Filmotheque is a stand-alone programme unit of the Cinema Lumière. Its programme is curated by Nina Novakova, Rastislav Steranka and Richard Šteinhübel, employees of the Slovak Film Institute (SFI) who closely collaborate with renowned film historians. The programme mostly consists of films selected from the archive funds of the National Film Archive of the SFI. The films are predominantly screened from 35 mm prints, ocassionally using digital material (in case of films which had undergone the process of restoration and digitisation). The Filmotheque screenings mostly take place in the Study Screening Room of the SFI (K3). Its programming is based on the rules determined by the International Federation of Film Archives (FIAF), of which the SFI has been a member since 2001.
