Minotaur Minotaur

Minotaur; Andrej Zvjagincev, versions: CS/ES : rus

Russia 2022. Successful businessman Gleb (Dmitriy Mazurov) lives in a beautiful waterfront home with his wife Galina (Iris Lebedeva) and their young son. Though politically connected, Gleb is not immune to the radical changes in Russian society and finds himself under extreme pressure to quell panic and keep his company running. Galina meanwhile feels the constant pressure of having to be the perfect wife and mother. When he begins to suspect that Galina is having an affair, the usually considered Gleb makes a fateful decision that will threaten emotional and moral collapse. A Golden Lion winner at Venice for The Return (SFF 2004) and a frequent prize winner at Cannes, Andrey Zvyagintsev (Leviathan, Loveless, Elena) is one of the greats chronicling Russian society over the last two decades. Minotaur is a loose modern remake of Claude Chabrol’s The Unfaithful Wife (1969), reworking its story of marital infidelity into a contemporary Russian setting shaped by political and social collapse. While Chabrol’s original centres on bourgeois suspicion and personal jealousy, the remake expands the narrative into post-2022 Russia, where the Ukraine war, military mobilisation, and corporate pressure form an inescapable backdrop to private life.

Her Private Hell Her Private Hell

Her Private Hell; Nicolas Winding Refn, versions: CS/ES : eng, jpn

Acclaimed Danish filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn, the visionary behind the Pusher trilogy, Drive and The Neon Demon, returns with Her Private Hell, a hypnotic sci-fi horror odyssey blending existential drama, supernatural terror and dreamlike noir. Set in a futuristic metropolis engulfed by an unnatural mist, the story follows a young woman searching for her missing father. Her journey crosses with an American soldier trying to rescue his daughter from what he believes is Hell itself. As reality descends into nightmare, grief, guilt and desire take physical form. Her Private Hell explores how people create their own private hells through fear, obsession and loss. Inspired by Refn's own near-death experience, the film is his most personal work to date—a meditation on mortality, rebirth and transformation. Echoing the neon-drenched style of Drive and The Neon Demon, the film combines striking imagery, minimalist storytelling and surreal sci-fi visions with a haunting score by legendary Italian composer Pino Donaggio. Starring Sophie Thatcher, Charles Melton, Kristine Froseth and an international ensemble cast, Her Private Hell had its world premiere in the Official Selection of the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, marking Nicolas Winding Refn's return to the Croisette.

No Good Men Kabul Jan

Kabul Jan; Shahrbanoo Sadat, versions: CS/ES

Directed by and starring Shahrbanoo Sadat (Wolf and Sheep, SFF 2017), No Good Men is set in Kabul in the time leading up to the Taliban's return to power in 2021. In this period of great political uncertainty and peril, Naru (Sadat) the sole camerawoman at Kabul's main TV station must deal with a personal crisis. Having left her cheating, abusive husband, she struggles against the odds to gain custody of her young son. Add to that the sexism Naru endures in the workplace and in the course of her duties, it is little wonder she feels strongly that there are "no good men" left in Afghanistan. When she is diverted to a serious news story, rather than the 'female content' usually foisted upon her, she works with Qodrat (Anwar Hashimi), Kabul TV's top journalist. While their initial interactions are guarded, the two soon find in each other something alluring. But the backdrop is anything but romantic as the Taliban encroach, and it seems the window of freedom for journalists, women and civil society is about to be sharply shut. Adeptly playing with rom-com conventions, while conveying the sheer terror of a society on the brink of tumult, Sadat has made a film as daring as it is delightful.

L'âge d'or; Bérenger Thouin, versions: CS/ES : fra

Režisér Bérenger Thouin prostredníctvom jej výnimočnej cesty skúma ambície, identitu, odolnosť a večnú ľudskú túžbu formovať vlastný osud. Prepojením hraného príbehu s precízne reštaurovanými archívnymi zábermi Zlatý vek stiera hranice medzi filmom a históriou a vytvára jedinečný vizuálny zážitok, v ktorom sa osobné životy prelínajú s veľkými dejinnými udalosťami. Film mal premiéru v prestížnej sekcii Cannes Classics na Medzijnárodnom filmovom festivale v Cannes 2026, kde bol jedným z dvoch súčasných filmov zaradených do programu. Prináša odvážnu novú podobu historického eposu a pôsobivú reflexiu búrlivej európskej minulosti i ľudí, ktorí ju prežili.

Memory of Princess Mumbi Memory of Princess Mumbi

Memory of Princess Mumbi; Damien Hauser, versions: CS/ES : eng, jpn

It is 2093. Umata is a futuristic African country where war in the past has brought ancient kingdoms back to life. Young filmmaker Kuve arrives in Umata to make a documentary about the aftermath of the war. Instead of the devastation he expects, he discovers a world that, despite its tragic past, has managed to create its own way of life. He meets Mumbi – a woman who fundamentally changes his view of the world and of filmmaking itself. Mumbi challenges Kuve to make his film without using artificial intelligence. In an age when technology can create images and stories, his journey becomes a search for his own cinematic voice and a return to what is real and spontaneous. In a broken world, he discovers beauty hidden in conversations, relationships, laughter and ordinary moments. Director Damien Hauser combines Afrofuturism, romance and a film within a film with a reflection on memory, technology and humanity. The film shows that while we remember great history through wars and catastrophes, we remember our own lives primarily through small, personal moments. Even in the future, what may be most precious is not technology, but ordinary human connection. The film had its world premiere in August 2025 at the 22nd edition of Giornate degli Autori during the Venice Film Festival and subsequently screened at major festivals including Toronto, Zurich, London, San Francisco and Istanbul.

Salvation Kurtulus

Kurtulus; Emin Alper, versions: CS/ES : kur, tur

In a remote village in eastern Turkey, the community is divided into two parts due to a decades-old land dispute. The Hazerans live in the upper part of the village, while the Bezaris once inhabited the lower part but were forced into exile. After their return, rumors begin to spread that the Bezaris intend to steal the Hazerans’ land. While the Hazeran leader, Sheikh Ferit, advocates calm, compromise, and coexistence, his troubled brother Mesut takes a different path. Haunted by nightmares he interprets as prophetic visions, Mesut convinces the Hazerans that the salvation of one side can only be achieved through the complete eradication of the other. The villagers respond enthusiastically to this idea, driven by a sense of grievance and righteous anger, and seeing themselves as defenders of their land rather than those claiming it at the expense of their neighbours. Although the film’s story is based on real events, Emin Alper deliberately blurs the boundaries between dream and reality and combines realistic elements with a highly stylised aesthetic, creating a timeless narrative with strong contemporary resonance. The film received the Grand Jury Prize at the 2026 Berlin International Film Festival.

Red Rocks Red Rocks

Red Rocks; Bruno Dumont, versions: CS/ES : fra

Summer is beginning on the French Riviera – a summer five-year-old Géo will never forget. Together with a gang of children, he discovers a world of red rocks, the sea and dangerous cliff-jumping. But when a rival gang enters the scene, an innocent childhood adventure turns into a battle for territory. And between the rivals, something even stronger begins to emerge – the first sparks of friendship, attraction and love. It is a sun-drenched, childlike variation on Romeo and Juliet. Two rival gangs, a boy and a girl from opposite sides, and a world in which children's games gradually begin to echo the conflicts of adults. Yet Bruno Dumont transforms Shakespeare's tragic passion into a story about first feelings, freedom and the desire to belong – without sentimentality, but with plenty of humour, energy and tenderness. It is a singular cinematic take on childhood, at once an adventure, a story of first love and a small reflection of the adult world.
