Dancing Arabs tells the story of Eyad, a Palestinian-Israeli boy from the town of Tira whose parents send to a prestigious Jewish boarding school in Jerusalem. At school he finds himself struggling with issues of language, culture, and identity – trying to survive and to find his way in a place where war constantly rages around him. Feeling foreign and alienated, Eyad realizes that in order to be accepted as an equal, in order to allay people’s suspicions, in order to work, to love, and, above all, to belong – he has to make personal sacrifices. As wedding festivities get underway in a Bedouin village in Israel, Jalila finds herself in the awkward position of hosting her husband Suliman's marriage to a second, much younger wife. The bomber is injured and rushed to the nearby hospital in critical condition, and with him many of the wounded attack victims. The burdensome situation that night leads to an intensive chain of events, serious doubts and bursts of emotion for many of the characters: The four police officers responsible for securing the attacker at the hospital, the doctor who happened to be on duty, the swift nurse, the group of injured people hospitalized in such close proximity to the terrorist and their family members who are caught in the deep turmoil of it all. Zohar and Daffi are best friends serving in the same administration office at an artillery base in the south of Israel. They share a bunk bed. They spend all their time together, sharing their thoughts, secrets, and passion for tabletop computer games. Daffi hates the secluded desert base and desperately tries to get transferred to Tel Aviv. Zohar concerns more about losing her virginity. She is terrified by the possibility of being left alone without her friend in the desolated base and is willing to take action to prevent Daffi from leaving. Rama is their highly motivated officer in charge, who fears that the counterproductive harmony of the two might indirectly hurt her chances to get promoted.
